What If Bohol Has a Public School Multimedia Network

July 26th, 2009 by admin

Imagine that all public schools in Bohol are somehow connected to a mutimedia network that can distribute interactive learning materials from a central location to schools which may be located at remote locations.  Imagine also that experts have at least one learning material each in their field of expertise.  For example, a physics expert will develop an interactive multimedia learning material for the law of gravity.

Now since it is already the expert who is teaching, the teacher at the public school only needs to ensure that the students understand the lessons by answering questions and making clarifications.  By supplementing regular lessons with the learning materials from experts, the students are exposed to lessons and teaching methods that may not be available to them by any other means.

Because the multimedia network is centralized, it is very easy and convenient to provide updates to the materials.  It would even be possible to host live learning sessions from visiting experts, allowing them to lecture to hundreds of students at different locations simultaneously.

Imagine the boost in the quality of learning because the experts themselves are teaching every student.  And because the teachers can also supplement their capabilities with the teaching techniques from the experts, they can also improve their ability to teach the students on their own.

Fortunately the technology to implement a multimedia network system is already available.  The various stakeholders only need to pool together resources and start building the network.

Are you a principal of a public school?  Are you an expert in a certain field?  Are you someone who wants to contribute to the significant improvement of basic education?  Send us an email at multimedia@auza.net and share your thoughts.  Who knows we can make this a reality in the very near future?
