Online Sales of the King of Pop’s Music Soars.
As news of Micheal Jackson’s death spread, people around the world turned to websites to see the news online, post comments, or share stories about the iconic music star. Twitter.com website crashed several times on June 25 with users seeing the “fail whale”, the picture that the website displays if its servers cannot handle the load. The news website LA Times, the first to report Jackson’s death, was out multiple times while AOL’s instant messenger service was shutdown for 40 minutes.
Jackson’s biggest hit album released in 1982, Thriller, remains as the top selling album of all time. Recent online sales on Amazon.com, Itunes.com and Play.com showed the artist’s albums on the top of the list.
Micheal Jackson will be best remembered for his biggest legacy, his music. His career started when he was 5 years old as a member of Jackson 5 and later on launched his solo career producing hits that took top chart positions. Thriller, Billie Jean, Beat It, Bad, Dangerous are just some of the songs that linger on in one’s head. He released 13 No.1 singles and sold an estimated 750 million records worldwide.
