Cesar “Buboy“ Montano, Boholano multi-awarded actor/director, Philippine celebrity ICON, businessman and UNESCO Ambassador of Goodwill is the celebrity endorser of the Philippine Coalition Against Tuberculosis ( PhilCAT) and the Department of Health (DOH) in the campaign called DOTS or Directly-Observed Treatment Shortcourse. DOH Sec. Francisco Duque lll and Thelma Tupasi of the Tropical Disease Foundation,Inc. and PhilCAT believes that Cesar Montano’s strength of character and appeal to masses will be the familiar face that people can easily relate for this noble advocacy. PHILCAT is a coalition of 67 organizations that aims to stop the spread of TB.
With Cesar “ Buboy “, the Message of Hope had finally rang clear to the millions of Filipinos who suffer from TB. In a recent DOH Report, the Philippines has now reached a case detection rate of 75% and maintained a treatment success rate of 91% despite that the Philippines still ranks No. 9 in the world on the prevalence of TB. Thus when the DOH requested that Cesar Montano be the Celebrity endorser, he did not hesitate to grant them for it his own personal advocacy and his Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to get rid of TB.
In the recent World TB Day celebration on March 30, 2009 at the Ayala Mall in Cebu, Cesar “Buboy” Montano, who practices healthy lifestyle, is the guest speaker in the Cebu Province wide celebration. His message in a nutshell was “ saving 75 people from dying of TB everyday is worth all the effort for everybody concerned, it is up to YOU, if you want to be cured–Love yourself!”
It was noteworthy that his hometown Bohol had been one of the Outstanding performers of this DOH / TDFI / PhilCAT Advocacy project to which Buboy reiterated continuing support and will take initiatives for Bohol to lead the country for a “TB-Free Philippines”.
