Personalize Your Google Apps Homepage

November 16th, 2008 by anyajulia

Google Apps, aside from making you work and collaborate more effectively with family, friends and officemates, it can also make your day to day computing fun and interesting. You can do this by customizing your home page and this is very easy to do. To be able to go back to your customized home page, you need to have an account on Google Apps. To get an account, send an email to accounts@bohol.asia with your first name and last name. The Google Apps for Boholanos is at http://www.bohol.asia.

The default home page for Bohol.Asia contains three custom sections, and a section each for Google Docs, Email, Calendar, Weather, Google Talk among others. You can rearrange the page the way you like and you can add more sections by clicking on the ‘Add Stuff’ link on the upper right side of the page. There are thousands of custom content on Google Apps, from useful tools, to information, to entertainment and many more. Simply select an application you like and click ‘Add it now’ button. After selecting the applications you like, click ‘Back to Homepage’ on the upper left side of the page. Then drag with your mouse pointer the sections and put them in the locations you like.

That’s it! Now you have your own customized home page. What’s left to do now is make it your default homepage so that every time you open your browser, you immediately go to your home page. You can set your home page on your browser by clicking Edit, Preferences, Main and then click on the ‘Use current page’ in the Startup section. Now you need to invite your friends to join you at Bohol.Asia so you can collaborate and communicate with you. Tell them to send email to accounts@bohol.asia to get their own accounts.
