DYRD-AM Worldwide broadcast marks one year of Technology Innovation

DYRD-AM, Bohol’s No. 1 Radio,marked on July 8, 2008 the first year anniversary of its live worldwide broadcast through the Internet via its website http://www.dyrdam.com. This broadcasting innovation was implemented by Auza.net and was launched last year in a simple ceremony at the Prawn Farm in the Island City Mall. It was attended by various government leaders, businessmen and the private sector.

The worldwide broadcast was an instant success and the listener feedback was phenomenal. Users from around the world can post comments are read by the broadcasters every hour. It is obvious how happy the listeners are when you see comments like this: September 04, 2007: I just found out DYRD radio station. And I want you to know that I’m so glad knowing this worldwide station. Taga Bohol ko og exciting kaayo nga mabati ko ang mga happenings sa atoa. Dia nako nagpoyo sa Norway, layo but I can hear the station very clearly like as I’m at home again. I want to CONGRATULATE YOU ALL for making this unique service to be happened. From now on I’ll follow DYRD. Thank you and GODBLESS.

The technology behind the worldwide broadcast was implemented by Auza.net using open source software and a very reliable Internet connection. Support staff keeps the system up and running everyday.

On its first few months, approximately 2000 page views were registered on the website and approximately 200 listeners on the live broadcast everyday in the initial months. The recorded program which allowed users at different time zones to listen to any of their favorite broadcasts any time and had an average of about 240 listeners daily.

At present, the webpage gets 6,000 daily page views, the live broadcast listeners number at around 250 daily and recorded broadcast listeners at a slightly lower 200 daily. In a year’s time, the website has delivered 830,000 page views and that number is steadily increasing.
